How does SuperFabric protect employees AND their company?

SuperFabric glove application shot
SuperFabric. It might sound like something Batman creates, but it’s actually for us regular folks. We talked with Katie Heydenberk, the Director of Channel Sales at HexArmor, to find out what puts the super in this fabric.

If you aren’t familiar with HexArmor, they make some impressive gloves and sleeves. They trust SuperFabric because it’s cut, puncture, and abrasion resistant. Plus, some gloves with SuperFabric are even resistant to needlesticks.

But how does it work?

The secret is tiny resin guard plates on the surface of the fabric. Laid out in a geometric pattern, the plates are designed to arrest and deflect sharp and pointed hazards by collapsing together when on a soft surface, such as your skin.

That ability makes SuperFabric a win-win material. It has helped prevent millions of injuries and in turn helped companies save millions of dollars in direct and indirect injury costs.

Then check out ten things to consider when choosing hand protection.

Where SuperFabric excels
  • SuperFabric protects against the dangerous hazards.
    • Blades, wire, metal, glass, and needles
  • It prevents life-changing injuries.
  • Plus, the guard plates don’t sacrifice dexterity.

Industries that use it
  • Pulp & paper – blade changing
  • Waste & recycling – needlestick and cut protection for the sorting lines
  • Mining – handling angle irons and metal screens
  • Lumber – wood splinters and strapping
  • Utilities – solar panel installation and repair

Fastenal’s safety line, BodyGuard, partnered with HexArmor on gloves and sleeves rely on SuperFabric. Specifically, the 314 series is a multi-purpose mechanics-style glove with SuperFabric in the palm. It offers an ANSI A8 cut rating with great dexterity. This glove is very popular in oil & gas, fabrication, and construction.

Plus, the co-branded SuperFabric sleeves feature ANSI A7 cut resistance and can handle six months to a year of solid use.
