  1. Know the standards. Learn more about ANSI standards and testing from Mechanix Wear here.
  2. Educate yourself on the material options available like synthetic leather, engineered yarns, and puncture-resistant fabric. What are their pros and cons?
  3. Understand other measures of protection e.g., coatings, gauge, synthetic vs. natural.
  4. Understand the testing process for determining the level and extent of cut resistance (e.g. 180° or
    360° of protection).
  5. Know the risk. Make sure you choose the right level of cut protection for the hazards associated with your job.

  1. Cut-resistant is not the same as cut-proof! Your glove will not make you Superman. Use common sense.
  2. Determine the other levels of protection and comfort you might need - protection against extreme hot or cold, flame retardant, comfort against excessive sweating, etc.
  3. Select the right size. Once you know the level of protection you require, this is the single most important factor. The right glove in the wrong size is a workplace liability!
  4. Know how to properly store and maintain. HexArmor shares some great tips here.
  5. Test for yourself! Want to know how our gloves work in your specific environment?
