The cost of lost data

How many times have you lost important data when using a standard notebook? Now put a dollar value to that lost data. You didn’t just lose a $5 notebook: you potentially lost hundreds of hours of time it took to collect that data. From the cost of materials to the loss of production time, the ruined data comes with many hidden costs.

Data loss and technology

While technology touches almost all aspects of our life, especially with smartphones, it does have limits. Different environments can wreak havoc due to unpredictable temperatures and weather, leading to dead batteries or damaged devices. Some of the hazards that make tech unreliable:
  • Extreme temperatures and weather can cause devices to malfunction and not work properly. Being able to take written notes in these environments can be critical for different industries.
  • Water, dirt, and oil can destroy delicate electronics.
  • If you’re working at great heights or outside, even just dropping your device can spell disaster.

Value of lost data

It’s difficult to put a dollar value to lost data, but the costs easily add up. Many only consider the cost of replacing a notebook but ignore the hidden costs to productivity.
  • Stopping work to grab new materials eats into productivity and profitability. In certain fields, you many not even have immediate access to replacement materials.
  • Having to replace materials frequently leads to an increase in material orders, costing your inventory team time and money.
  • Loss of instructions or institutional knowledge can lead to work stoppages, ultimately causing a loss of profits in the long term.

Prevention against data loss

Much like safety issues, many problems with data loss can be prevented through proper planning and high-quality solutions.
  • Use archival grade paper for notes you plan to store. Strict standards mean that you can count on your notes for years to come.
  • Choose all-weather paper for taking notes in messy environments. All-Weather paper resists water, dirt, and oil so you won’t ruin your notebook.
  • Invest in high-quality notebooks for fewer replacements in the long run.

When your work doesn’t stop due to the weather, you need tools you can rely on to keep working. Reliable tools save you time and money in the long run and lead to increased productivity.
