Tariffs. A pandemic. Hurricanes. There will always be another disruption in the headlines. But no matter what the current concern is, safety will always be needed.

That's why Fastenal urges a focus on the basics.

What does getting back to basics look like?
To establish a comprehensive safety program, it takes collaboration and participation from everyone in a facility or on a jobsite.
  • Top-down leadership support
  • Schedule regular events and training focused on safety best practices
  • Rethink procedures to avoid potential dangers
  • Analyze PPE to see if it meets current safety standards
  • Debrief after incidents or near misses to identify areas of improvement
  • Talk with a safety supplier to learn about innovations in safety equipment

Choosing the right PPE is only part of the equation. Analyzing your hazards, environment and procedures ensures that your safety program is well rounded. As we move past the dangers of disruptions, we can’t forget the basics.

REMEMBER: SAFETY IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY.
