How to improve your reordering and restocking

December 19, 2022
By Heath Hazard | VP of Sales

Let’s talk about reordering and restocking. It’s an important area of focus and what trips up most companies is how inefficient the processes can be.

Quick story
Even though best practices are always evolving, human nature is to wait until we experience pain, and then, we seek relief.

My example?

I spent about 20 minutes waiting at the front desk of a hotel to get checked in. (Prior to that day, I never realized how inefficient it really was). When I finally get to speak with the person working the counter, they ask why I hadn’t downloaded the app yet.

The app?

Now I know, and it’s pretty slick! It allows you to check-in on a phone before you get there, and use your phone as a room key. Very efficient. I’ve been staying at hotels for decades, but I had no idea this was an option.

I share this because you don’t know what you don’t know.

So, my recommendation to improve your reordering and restocking is simple. Always consult with an industry expert.

Leverage their knowledge and expertise to provide solutions to your unique challenges. They should be able to share proven solutions they’ve implemented in other facilities to improve the reordering and restocking process.

How can Fastenal help?
We start with a mix of technology and good people. Technology brings operational efficiencies to everyday supplies. One example is including the creation of data points which allow for an immediate impact as well as continuous improvement opportunities.

In addition to technology, people 100% make the difference. As a supply chain partner, not only does Fastenal offer a local footprint of support, but also teams of experts trained to help throughout various areas of the supply chain.

It’s even an option to create a dedicated labor program for your local site. But again, it really depends on your needs and business goals.

In today’s marketplace, industrial and manufacturing companies are under more pressure than ever to gain a competitive advantage. Improvements to the reordering and restocking process is just one way that Fastenal can help.
